Oral Bible Translation School of 2022
As our school comes to a close and we prepare to set sail from YWAM Ships Kona to the beautiful island nation of Papua New Guinea, I just wanted to give a quick recap of what I have been learning about this quarter. I also want to give an update on the “Good News Is Coming” podcast, which I have been preparing to launch for a little over a month now. I finally got permission to use the recording studio on base, and I will be recording my first episode this week with plans to launch later this month… Subscribe and stay tuned for more info coming soon!

We laughed, we cried, we sang, we prayed, and now we are here… This quarter has been a whirlwind of emotions and life lessons for me personally, but the Lord has been faithful to hold me down when I felt like running, and give me a little nudge when it was time to take the next step. I am here because I had the Word of the Lord to come to Kona for this Fall and participate in the Oral Bible Translation School, but God has given me so much more than just a class about translation. This has been a time of much growth for me, I have learned that I can trust the Lord through every trial, and that the most important thing is to have faith in Jesus no matter how many times I fall and have to get back up again.
One of the challenges that I have been facing was actually experiencing culture shock, and really having to adjust the way that I do things to make sure that I could function in the environment that I have been placed in. It was not easy, to say the least, but I have seen how even when I am walking through the storms of life, Jesus is always standing with me in the midst of the chaos. His voice is louder and more powerful than the voice of fear and frustration, and I can trust in Him to walk with me through that storm, and to be my peace in the process. I can truly trust God to be there for me no matter what… Praise Jesus.
Here is a trustworthy saying:
2 Timothy 2:11-13
If we died with him,
we will also live with him;
if we endure,
we will also reign with him.
If we deny him,
he will also deny us;
if we are faithless,
he remains faithful,
for he cannot deny himself.
Coming up soon…
So I am really excited to go to Washington next week to visit family and friends during the holidays! I will be visiting home and church and making little stops to pray with friends and family along the way. God is so good! I am so grateful to have the opportunity to come home during this special season of the year, and I have been homesick so I believe God is going to fill my heart and use this time to bring a lot of JOY to our lives when we come together! Please be praying with me for safe travels, and also that I would be able to raise the rest of my outreach funds before I return to Kona to join my team at the end of the month. I have about $1400 left to raise, which is just INCREDIBLE! 🙂 I am so excited to see how God provides in this season going on outreach, and for the depth of intimacy that will be cultivated with the Lord throughout our time in PNG, abiding in the vine of Christ. Overall, this has been a season of pruning and trimming off things of the past, while at the same time learning to seek God in a new way… Sometimes when it seems that hope is lost, all you need to do is stop looking down at the ground, look up and see that the light of God’s face is already shining on you!
