The Disciple-Making Course
During the month of August, I had the privilege of hosting a Disciple Making Course at my home church in Aberdeen Washington for several amazing disciple-makers who all came together to learn how to start a movement of the Word of God in our community. It was fantastic to see so many Christians coming together from our church for the purpose of making disciples and mobilizing the Body of Christ in Grays Harbor. I was so blessed by the results! The whole purpose of offering the Disciple Making Course was to give local believers the tools to become disciple-makers who know how to find people-of-peace in the community and start a disciple-making movement with the Word of God. The DMM strategy is based on the original church-planting model which Jesus gave to his disciples in Luke 10 and Matthew 10, which laid the foundations of the early Church in the book of Acts. This is a simple method, and it bears the fruit of making disciples who are obedient to Christ, easily reproducible, and able to stand alone. There is no cost, no required training or qualifications, and anyone can do it because the people at Waha actually built an app to make it totally accessible for anyone to get started right away!
So we spent five weeks learning about DMM with the materials in the Waha App as well as some supplemental media that I curated for the group, and applied what we were learning in very practical ways. All of the participants who completed the course finished with confidence in their ability to use the Waha app, and a deep hunger to learn more about disciple-making, but that wasn’t all. As we were discussing how our small group would move forward, God put it on some of the participants hearts to continue learning and growing together by forming a Disciple Making Community! This was such an answer to my prayer for the course, which from the beginning was just that one person would catch the vision for doing DMM in our community and be inspired to take on the mission. God totally moved in this small group of believers at Harbor City Church, and I believe that this is just the beginning of a much bigger move of God that is about to take place in the greater Grays Harbor region! Praise God for the work he has already done, is doing, and will do very soon, and may His Word be fulfilled in all of the purposes which he has set forth for us here in Grays Harbor. Praise the Lord!
The work in Grays Harbor is not complete, however, and we will need all the prayer we can get to build up the Body of Christ for the powerful move that God is making in his Church here. The need for the Gospel is clear in our community, and Jesus came not for those who think they can save themselves by their own righteousness, but for the needy, the sick, and those who are crying out for a Savior. Some of the most obvious challenges we are facing here in the GH region include, but are certainly not limited to: high suicide rates, crime, drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness and poverty, and plenty more struggles of a personal nature… My request to you reading this is that you would add the Churches of Grays Harbor and the lost souls in our community to your prayer list, and that you would partner with us through your powerful intercession to build up the Body of Christ in spiritual strength and the anointing of God’s holiness over the Church, pray for our pastors, pray for our elders, pray for our youth! We need your hand in prayer to make heaven come and hell go NOW! So please, as you come to the end of this letter, please pray to the Lord our God, the King of Heaven, and let me know in the comments below if the Lord speaks to you today on behalf of the Churches of Grays Harbor. We would love to receive your words of encouragement and wisdom in moving forward. I know that heaven is already moving and invading in this place, this is only the beginning of the new thing God doing here. Thank you so very much for your powerful prayers!
