So I’m waiting for the plane to take off, soon I will be flying over the Pacific, dreaming about the great things that God has in store for me in this new season. I greet the couple sitting next to me on the plane, and in just a few moments we are talking about how God has prepared us for this new season that we are each heading into. There are so many dreams that God has placed in their hearts, they are about to go on a tour of the states with their two dogs in search of an RV Park to purchase so that they can start a business sharing their love for self-care and travel along with the unstoppable message of the Gospel, blazing new trails everywhere they go… What an amazing dream that God has given them to live out! For me, it’s very similar in that the Lord has led me towards mobilizing the community around me, but there are so many things still left to discover about the plans that God has for me… I don’t have all of the answers yet, but I have a heart for those at home and those who are hungry for Jesus, and I want to be a part of what God is doing in my own backyard. Let’s go back to where it all began, Lord!
Now I am sitting in my room at my parents home in Enumclaw, Washington, writing this letter to you who have been with me from the beginning of this short journey of getting to know the Lord. I want to share with you the things that I have been processing and all of the dreams that God has put on my heart to live out while I am here in my home state. I know that I am going to want to share every little detail, but I will try to keep it short. If you want to hear more about my Summer adventures, or get together sometime, just shoot me a message here and we can call and catch up, I would love to hear from you!

Since I have been home from SBS in Kona, I have been processing a lot of different things that the Lord has brought up from being in Washington for just a short time. Honestly, I didn’t realize how shocking it would be coming back to the mainland after living in the YWAMer community in Kona, HI for the past nine months. I thought that there would be some moments of overwhelm, but there has actually been a whole new awakening that I have gone through with the Lord these past few weeks, and I just want more revelation on what it looks like to live out this new lifestyle as a citizen in God’s Kingdom. I have to use all of the new understanding I gained about the Bible to interact with the world in a different way than I did before. The biggest challenge that I face is fear, and the biggest weapon I have is love! I am learning so much right now, and I am constantly humbled by the memories of who I used to be and the man that God is now shaping me into by his grace. God’s grace is truly sufficient for me, and I cannot thank the Lord enough for all that he has done for me in the short time that I have known him, almost two years!
At the end of this month I will be helping my family in Enumclaw to move back to Aberdeen, and I am really excited to be a part of the Grays Harbor community again! It will be SO GOOD to be able to walk to church again, and enjoy long walks with the Lord around town. I want to be very present in this time and try to pour myself out as much as I can, trusting in God to guide my steps to the people and places which he has predestined for his glory. In truth, I have two big dreams that God has placed in my heart to be a part of, and I have made plans for this next month to begin the process. First of all, I am praying for revival in the churches of Grays Harbor, and I am going to be witnessing through a seminar that will be held at Harbor City Church to equip the body with the tools to start Discipleship Making Movements in our local community and beyond:
Discipleship Making Movements (or DMM) is a simple yet powerful strategy for missions which can be applied both in the nations and in our own community to bring unbelievers into the Kingdom and teach them to obey all that Jesus commanded, fulfilling the Great Commission of Matthew 28. In this four-week seminar, we will walk through the essential steps of identifying a person of peace, recognizing their ‘God need’, and inviting them to discover God’s Word together in a Discovery Bible Study. The foundations of this strategy come directly from the words of Jesus, found in Matthew 10 and Luke 10, which is part of the reason why the early church was so successful in applying the Word, and multiplying disciples quickly. As we explore the methods used by the early church, we will also be taking action in our local community to apply what we have learned, and focus our efforts on making disciples who make disciples, just like Jesus and His apostles did nearly 2000 years ago. ‘Discipleship Making Movements’ shows us that all we need to make disciples is our Bible, and our trust in the Holy Spirit to lead the way.

*You can download my project proposal here for more information about how we can use DMM to start a movement of the Word of God in our local community*
If this is the first time you are hearing about DMM, and you would like to join us for the seminar on August 2nd, 9th, 23rd & 30th, please post a comment below or send me a message here; I am intending to equip and mobilize our church body towards local missions, and would love for you would be a part of it!!!
Looking ahead now, I am preparing to go on a short trip to Montana the third week of August for the “Engage with Bible Translation” seminar at YWAM Lakeside, MT. This is a part of what the Lord inspired me to do during my SBS in Kona, and it is going to be a great opportunity to ask questions and discover how God wants to use me to reach the lost through Bible translation and engagement. The hope for me is that I would come back with a much clearer picture of what God is doing in the mission field right now to bring the Bible to the unreached, and some really good practical steps that I can take to get involved, as well as to get a bigger picture of my future in missions if I pursue this calling, and how to prepare myself to have longevity and sustainability in this field of missions. I really want to share all of the amazing things that God has done in the last year and some to lead me to this particular field of missions, so please check out my April Newsletter to learn more about The Dream of God that I have in my heart to bring the Word of God to the unreached, it may even inspire you to want to learn more about the mission to End Bible Poverty in the nations!
So as you can see, I have a lot going on this Summer for what a short season it is, and I am still in need of your support financially as well as in prayer to make it all possible. I am going to be doing a bit of fundraising over the next two months for Titus Project (outreach) in September, and Oral Bible Translation (training/outreach), and I am looking for more work to earn some funds as well, but I am confident that God’s plan will unfold and is already unfolding with every opportunity needed to be able to accomplish the task at hand, and do it well! If you would like to partner financially with me in my mission to bring the Bible to the nations, below is a general breakdown of the current needs for the month of August and projected needs for September thru the end of the year. I will keep the Prayer Wall and Give pages updated with the current needs as I get more details about outreach costs and school fees, etc:
- Engage with Bible Translation Seminar (August 15-20th)
- $165 for the week (includes training and housing costs)
- $50 for travel expenses (covers cost of food while traveling)
- Titus Project (September 19th – thru December)
- $5k (Projected Outreach Fees)
- Additional Costs TBD
- Oral Bible Translation School (January-June)
- Still waiting for details to be finalized
And if you would like to partner with the mission in prayer, here are my current prayer requests for the Summer and continuing into the next season as well:
- Pray for God’s continued provision for my missions and personal needs.
- Pray for wisdom and strategy in local missions ministry, and deeper revelation of how God wants to use our church to reach the Grays Harbor community in Aberdeen and all the surrounding areas using DMM and other methods.
- Pray for clarity about upcoming missions and the bigger picture vision of what God is calling me into in the next season and beyond.
Thank you so much for partnering with me financially and in prayer in this season, I would not be able to do what God is calling me to without your continued prayer and financial support. I am equally honored to be praying for you and serving the church locally to pour back into our community, and if there is anything I can do to help you or others make the dreams of God come to life, please reach out. I want to be a part of seeing God’s Kingdom come to earth, both in the nations and in our own nation. Let’s work together to fulfill the Great Commission by sending the Word of God to the ends of the earth, one Bible and one disciple at a time!
